We did it!

As you no doubt have heard by now, the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office on Tuesday certified our citizens’ initiative petition to legalize adult-use marijuana for the Nov. 8 general election ballot.

The welcome news has garnered headlines across the country, in both the mainstream media and industry press. And as I’ve told every reporter I could in the near-constant round of interviews I’ve had in the past few days, we couldn’t have done it without you, our volunteer supporters.

We needed every one of the more than 400,000 voter signatures collected, of which fully one-fourth came from grassroots efforts. Quite simply, this groundswell of support literally made the difference between qualifying for the general election ballot and falling short.

Now it’s time to make our case with the voters of Missouri to become the 20th state in the nation to tax, regulate and legalize marijuana for adult use. We’re ready to become the first state where voters initiate automatic expungement of criminal records for most past, nonviolent cannabis offenses – a historic step that will wipe the slate clean for the tens of thousands arrested annually for activity that will soon be legal. To give law enforcement the tools and resources it needs to more squarely focus on fighting violent crime. And to open up the Missouri marijuana market to more small-business owners, including those eligible for automatic expungement.

Your continued support is essential to ensuring victory on Nov. 8. Make sure you are registered to vote, and tell your friends, neighbors and coworkers to do so as well.
